Post Symposium Workshops

Hearing Aid Update – Technologies & Outcomes Workshop

In conjunction with the 7th Asia Pacific Symposium on Cochlear Implants and Related Sciences, Society for Audiology Professionals (Singapore) is organizing the Hearing Aid Update – Technologies & Outcomes.

Gone are the days of analogue hearing aids as audiology professionals and consumers welcome the digital age with open arms. The recent years have seen an explosion of digital hearing instruments in the market worldwide. Manufacturers diligently introduce new technologies in their wide range of hearing instruments, promising superior performance in more challenging listening environments. Many a times, dispensing audiologists are caught in the middle about the true benefits these enhanced signal processing strategies and features can offer consumers. Many rely on anecdotal reports while others depend on specification data materials.

This exciting workshop will focus on the current “state-of-the-art” digital hearing aid technology and how it influences consumer outcomes. Participants will gain a better understanding about the validity of manufacturers’ claims encompassing improved signal processing schemes and features such as adaptive directionality, speech enhancement and frequency lowering techniques.
