Auditory-Verbal Practice Workshop
This much anticipated workshop will feature essential topics in Auditory-Verbal practice. Utilising an interactive approach, Judith Simser an internationally acclaimed speaker on the education of children with hearing impairment will be sharing on various topics, some of which include hierarchies in listening and language, developing speech through listening, behavior modification and tools for living. She will include live demonstration, featuring techniques used in A-V therapy and discussion on various case studies along with many practical tips.

About the Speaker
| Judith Simser, O.Ont., B.Ed., Dip Ed. Deaf, Cert AVT is an internationally acclaimed speaker on the education of children with hearing impairment. Mrs. Simser, formerly of the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario in Ottawa, Canada, lived in Taiwan for six years, where she trained therapists and established two auditory-verbal centers serving over 1000 families. Judy returned home to Ottawa after a year in Singapore where she trained Auditory-Verbal therapists from Indonesia, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore and developed the Listen and Talk program, an Auditory-Verbal program in the Singapore General Hospital Cochlear Implant Centre. She has presented and continues to consult in numerous countries throughout the world.
Judith is a founding board member and past president of Auditory-Verbal International. Awards to the profession include the Canadian Commemorative Medal (1993), The Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf International Teacher of the Year Award (1982), the prestigious Order of Ontario (1992) and she has recently been recognised as an AG Bell Global Ambassador. Simser has contributed to many publications. She is the parent of a son who is profoundly deaf who has earned an MBA and is a practicing lawyer. |

In conjunction with the 7th Asia Pacific Symposium on Cochlear Implants and Related Sciences, Department of Otorhinolaryngology of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre is organizing the 32nd Temporal Bone Dissection Course 2009. Lecture topics include: -
